CALLING QUEENS
by Melva Eccles
Remedies that are particularly recommended for female cats (queens) are FOLLICULINUM, SEPIA, PLATINA and PULSATILLA.
In particular, FOLLICULINUM used in different potencies, it is said to help fertility (in 6c or 30c potency) and to keep a queen off-call if given in a high potency (1M or 200c).
Suggested doses:
For queens that call frequently:
FOLLICULINUM 6c - a dose morning and evening for four days may bring a cat into season.
SEPIA 30c or 200c has a beneficial action on the entire female reproductive tract. A dose once weekly for three weeks can help hormonal imbalance.
PULSATILLA 30c could be given if it was felt there was a fault preventing conception as it has a beneficial effect on the ovaries. There is often a creamy discharge when this remedy is suitable. Dosage would be 3 times a week for four weeks.
To help balance calls:
FOLLICULINUM 30c given on alternate days for ten days.
PLATINA 200c given one dose daily for 5 days may also help regulate a cat that has been continuously on call. The latter can particularly apply to strong character cats such as the Siamese.
For queens who are incessant callers, or which you may not want to mate soon after having kittens:
FOLLICULINUM 1M or 200c given one dose, three times a day for 3 days, preferably when off call. Repeated, one dose occasionally.
False pregnancy:
PULSATILLA 200c or 30c for a dose or two could be given if one feels a cat is having a false pregnancy, i.e. nothing showing on scans or has not been mated.
